MathSheetGo · Sheet #733Please review before classroom use

Metric measurement conversions strengthen place-value thinking because related units are connected by powers of ten. This generator creates exact whole-number questions using millimeters, centimeters, meters and kilometers for length; grams and kilograms for mass; and milliliters and liters for capacity.

The starting sheet mixes all three measurement types and both conversion directions. Teachers can narrow the practice to one type, choose larger-to-smaller or smaller-to-larger conversions, adjust the number of questions and produce up to four equivalent versions. Every worksheet can be printed or downloaded with a matching answer key without an account.

Metric relationships on these worksheets

  • 10 millimeters equal 1 centimeter, and 100 centimeters equal 1 meter.
  • 1,000 meters equal 1 kilometer.
  • 1,000 grams equal 1 kilogram.
  • 1,000 milliliters equal 1 liter.
  • Moving from a larger unit to a smaller unit makes the numerical value larger.

Build meaning before using a shortcut

Ask students to name the conversion factor and predict whether the answer should be greater or less than the starting number. For example, 6 meters must become more than 6 centimeters because centimeters are smaller units. Once that relationship is clear, multiplication and division by 10, 100 or 1,000 become meaningful rather than a memorized decimal-point rule.

How to print this worksheet

  1. Check the settings above. They are already set for metric measurement conversions.
  2. Pick 10, 15, 20 or 30 problems, a title, and the name or date lines you want.
  3. Choose US Letter or A4 to match the paper in your printer.
  4. Press Download PDF for a file you can save and reuse, or Print to send it straight to your printer.
  5. Keep the answer key page for yourself. The sheet number in the footer lets you make the exact same sheet again later.

Frequently asked questions

Which metric units are included?
The generator uses millimeters, centimeters, meters, kilometers, grams, kilograms, milliliters and liters.
Do these worksheets include decimal answers?
No. Starting values are selected so every conversion has an exact whole-number answer.
Can I practise only metric length?
Yes. Select Length instead of Mixed to use only millimeters, centimeters, meters and kilometers.

Worksheets are generated automatically and checked by automated tests, but please review each sheet before using it in class.
