Division is easiest to learn as the opposite of multiplication. If a child knows 6 × 7 = 42, they also know 42 ÷ 7 = 6. By default, every problem on these sheets divides evenly, so practice stays focused on fact families.

When students are ready, turn on remainders. Each problem then leaves a remainder between 1 and one less than the divisor, and the answer key writes it as “7 R 2”.

Suggested progression

  • Division by 2, 5 and 10, connected to the matching times tables.
  • Mixed division facts with divisors up to 12 and whole-number answers.
  • Division with remainders, written as quotient R remainder.
  • Word problems that ask what the remainder means.
