Time & Money Practice

Read each analog clock and write the time.

MathSheetGo · Sheet #653Please review before classroom use

Time and money turn number skills into everyday decisions. These worksheets combine clear analog clocks with practical money questions while keeping each activity focused enough for independent practice, homework or a short classroom check.

Choose telling time, elapsed time, counting US coins, adding and subtracting money, or making change. Clock questions can use intervals from thirty minutes down to one minute, and money calculations use exact cents so every answer key is consistent.

Suggested time and money progression

  • Read analog clocks to the hour and half hour, then quarter hours and five-minute intervals.
  • Use start and end times to find elapsed time within the same day.
  • Name pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters and combine their values.
  • Add and subtract dollar amounts by lining up dollars and cents.
  • Find change from $5, $10 or $20 by subtracting the purchase cost.

Teaching tips for clocks and coins

For clocks, identify the shorter hour hand first and then count around the minute marks. Remind learners that the hour hand moves gradually as the minutes pass. For money, name each coin and its value before adding, group equal coins, and count from the cost up to the amount paid as a second way to check change.

Frequently asked questions

Which clock intervals are available?
Choose thirty-minute, fifteen-minute, five-minute or one-minute intervals. The analog clock hands and the answer key are generated from the same exact hour and minute values.
Which coins are included?
Coin-counting questions use US quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. Each prompt names the coins and asks for the total in dollars and cents.
Can students practise making change?
Yes. Choose a payment amount of $5, $10 or $20. Every item costs less than the selected payment, so the answer is always a non-negative amount of change.
